Mann Report’s Commercial Corner

Most say retail is dying; why create a firm focused on retail?
From 2017 to 2020, every article headline read “Retail Apocalypse.” At the start of the pandemic, there was no light at the end of the tunnel for retail, but office, residential, etc. was going to do just fine. Retail is like any other industry: adapt or die. There will always be innovators. They will recreate retail in a way that we could never imagine today. In 2021, office needs retail. Hotels need retail. Residential needs retail. People want retail.

Who is a mentor in your life?
I talk a lot about my mother teaching me the need to hustle. I seldom mention my father, who is a business mentor of mine. As an entrepreneur, he’s had successes and failures. I have the opportunity to bounce my strategies off of him to play out potential curveballs.

What is something unique about masonre?
In contrast to other brokerages, masonre’s innovative approach combines data-driven analytics, community outreach and insider knowledge of both tenant and landlord priorities. We fully embrace the importance of collecting and analyzing data and have a custom-built infrastructure to provide the best product for our clients.

Who inspires you?
My grandfather taught me resilience. He’s a Holocaust survivor with an incredible story. I will never have to face a challenge in life or business that will compare to what he has experienced. His outlook in life is, “No matter how hard today is, tomorrow will be better. And if it’s not tomorrow, it’ll be the day after.”

What’s your favorite part of the job?
I get to tap into my creative side. I majored in marketing in college. I love photography, creating marketing brochures for clients and bringing their stories to life. I get to have fun doing what I love to do. Oh, and shopping is a part of my “job.”

Are you feeling zoomed out?
I think that question needs to stop being asked. I love face-to-face interaction. I can be in Miami, talking about a building in New York City, with a prospect that’s sitting in Los Angeles. I’m grateful for certain aspects of the pandemic, one being the acceleration of adopting video meetings.

What keeps you up at night?
Thankfully, I sleep through the night unless my two-and-a-half-year-old son has a nightmare or my seven-month-old daughter starts babbling to herself.
